The next match for the Night of Conflict 2 will feature a couple of wrestlers from Iowa who are familiar with each other. Carter Cox from Atlantic will take on Noah Fye of New Hampton.
Fye made a name for himself when he went out to Fargo and became a 2014 All American before he entered his high school career. Fye followed that up by placing third at state as a freshman. Coming into his sophomore season he was one of the prohibitive favorites for the state title. Last season was a solid season but his title dreams came to an end in the state semifinals with a 2-1 loss to Carter Cox. Fye would go on to place fifth. Fye was also the USAW Preseason Nationals runner-up and finished seventh at the Super 32 in 2015.
Cox has had some national success placing second at the 2015 Brute Nationals and the 2016 Corn Cob Nationals. However, he wasn’t quite as well known in the state of Iowa prior to last season. He was a state qualifier his first two years of high school, but hadn’t reached the podium until his breakout second place finish last season, including that win over Fye.
What makes this a grudge match? Fye pinned Cox at the John J Harris Invitational earlier in the year. Round three goes down October 14th at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Ticket information is below. DING DING!
