We have added a twelfth and final match to the Girl’s Night of Conflict card this Friday, September 25th. There has also been a little shakeup in one of our bouts and one of the very best wrestlers in the state has taken on the challenge.

For the newest match, we stayed in Western Iowa and added highly touted freshman Izzy Deeds of Ridge View high school. We don’t rank freshman to start the year but we don’t think that it will take long for Deeds to make her way in and become a big name in Iowa girls high school wrestling. Among her accolades to date, she is a three-time girls AAU state champion, 2020 Iowa/USA state champion and a two-time Corncob Nationals champion. Her opponent will be Moorea Brown of Center Point-Urbana who’s coming off of a successful freshman season and enters her Sophomore year ranked #32 overall in Iowa in the girls Fab50. Brown placed 7th at the IWCOA state tournament and followed that up with a big 2nd place finish at the AAU state tournament in February.

BIG name added: Unfortunately Yareli Morales of Sioux City East had to withdraw from wrestling on Friday. The good news is that the #2 overall wrestler in the girls Fab50 has decided to take her place as Sydney Park of Davenport Assumption will now take on Sophie Barnes of Lewis Central. Park’s has all kinds of accolades on the state and national level and is already a two-time IWCOA state champion entering her junior season. Along with being tabbed as the #2 girl in Iowa she is also ranked as the #15 wrestler in the nation at 127 pounds by USA wrestling. She initially was out due to recovering from an injury she sustained last season but has gotten back on the mat recently and decided to wrestle. Sophie Barnes jumped at the opportunity to wrestle her and was willing to take on whoever we put in front of her. Barnes is currently ranked #44 in the girl’s Fab50 but has a chance to make a big splash on Friday night!
