We are pleased to announce the next bout on the boy’s Night of Conflict card on September 26th. An upper weight battle between West Delaware’s Wyatt Voelker and Taner Harvey of Boone. Both wrestlers experienced a breakout season a year ago and will be looking to continue that momentum.
The 2019-20 season was a big one for Voelker who managed to win USA Wrestling’s folkstyle nationals and then earn All-American status in Greco-Roman and freestyle later that summer. In the Fall Voelker participated in our Night of Conflict event and defeated Osage’s Spencer Mooberry by a score of 7-3. In his sophomore season, he brought home a third place finish, and now the nationally ranked junior will be hungry for his first title in 2021. He checks in at #22 on the IAwrestle Fab 50 and #12 in the country according to MatScouts.
On the other side of this matchup is the rising Boone wrestler Harvey who had a tremendous junior season. After missing the podium as a junior Harvey broke out to a runner-up finish in Class 3A as a junior at 182 pounds. Roughly a month later he added a runner-up finish at the Corn Cob Nationals as well. Prior to the start of the year, Harvey was an All-American in folkstyle at USA Wrestling’s Preseason Nationals. As a wrestler sitting just outside of the IAwrestle Fab 50 a win here would no doubt continue to catapult him in Iowa.
The dual the event which takes place on 9/26 will be available on Rokfin and Long Lines Broadband, with limited in person seating also available.
More details about Night of Conflict can be found on the event website.
