Davenport Assumption’s Matt Robertson Commits

Returning Davenport Assumption state champion, Matt Robertson will call Grand View his home next season. The 27th overall wrestler in Iowa commits to Nick Mitchell after being ranked sixth preseason to state champion in 2017. Robertson was fifth on the best available seniors list prior to commitment.

“I feel like I’m an impact guy right now. The Grand View coaches were committed to me right away.” Robertson told IAwrestle. “I wanted to wrestle right away and I felt like Grand View is the place for me. Also what’s not to love about their winning tradition.

Robertson chose Grand View over Iowa State and University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.

Currently the No. 1 ranked wrestler at 132 pounds, Robertson is projected at 141 pounds but said 133 wouldn’t be out of the question and will go where ever he is needed.

The Grand View commit enters his senior season with a 105-17 career record.
