It’s always fun to look at “Potential” matchups for state duals. As we’re all aware, with the current schedule, any marque matchup could or couldn’t happen the day before the individual state tournament. Here are a few to keep an eye out for in 3A…

All eyes should be on mat six Wednesday night should Waverly Shell-Rock and Southeast Polk reach the finals. Waverly Shell-Rock’s Ryder Block comes in as the top-ranked lightweight in 3A. Two spots behind him sits Southeast Polk’s, Nate Jesuroga at No. 3. This match would go down in the finals Wednesday night if they both teams advance. Both wrestlers have undefeated records and were conference champions. This could very well be a preview of the finals Saturday night.

  1. When is the IHSAA gonna wake up and hold the duals a week after traditional like they used to? I am a huge fan but many many of us don’t want anything to do with this format. Never been to it now…seems mostly just families of participants now do. Used to see some really great matchups after state. Now it is nothing because alotta great matchups don’t happen and it’s a disgrace to the sport. They might as well not even have it.Probably has somethin to do with power or greed and alot of…well I won’t continue.
