A big change to ISU’s 2019 recruiting class, as IAwrestle has learned that New Jersey prep Chris Foca is no longer verbally committed to Iowa State. Ranked as a top 30 wrestler in the class of 2019, Foca committed to the Cyclones in October of his junior year. According to our own Tony Hager, Foca silently de-committed nearly six months ago.

The commitment of Foca surprised many, as the Bergen Catholic standout reportedly committed to coach Kevin Dresser without having ever stepped foot on campus. Currently ranked #12 by The Open Mat at 170 pounds, Foca projected as a 174-pound recruit. While the Cyclones certainly would have welcomed a recruit of Foca’s caliber, the loss is lessened by the fact that Ames, Iowa native Marcus Coleman is expected to lock down that starting spot this coming season. Coleman is entering his redshirt freshman season for Iowa State and should be a lineup contender throughout his career.
This leaves Albia’s Aden Reeves as the Cyclones only commitment in the class of 2019 for Iowa State.
