A fairly solid round for Team Iowa, as they started with 15 wrestlers, and five of those still in contention for a title. After a couple disappointing quarterfinal losses by Fye (100), West (113), and Clingenpeel (138), Iowa rebounded strong with Anthony Sherry (152) and Gannon Gremmel (220). Sherry, who earned All-America honors by placing second in the Greco-Roman tournament, won his quarterfinal match 10-0 to secure double All-America status. Gremmel also won by TF (14-4) to achieve his All-America status. The two will wrestle their semifinal matches this afternoon, with the round starting at 3:30 PM (full schedule here). World Team Trials for 61 and 70 KG will be taking place during this round as well, so you may see some breaks in the high school action.

A few other Iowans reached All-American status through the consolation bracket. First up was Noah Fye, who after suffering a loss in the quarters needed to respond with a win to make the stand. After starting out strong to a 6-0 lead, he let his opponent climb back into the match, but ultimately won 10-9. Bryce West, who also lost in the quarters, was trailing 5-1 in his match, when he was able to score five points to go up 6-5 and never let go of that lead. Colton Clingenpeel, another who lost his quarterfinal match, came back strong with a 12-1 tech fall and he also earned All-America honors.
