Cadet Freestyle Results Session II

After starting the round with 35 wrestlers, Iowa had a pretty good round as Iowa placed five men into the quarterfinals. Among the quarterfinalst are Greco All-Americans Bryce West (113) and Anthony Sherry (152), along with Noah Fye (100), Colton Clingpeel (138), and Gannon Gremmel (220).

10 other Iowan remain alive in hopes of reaching All-American status, bringing the total number of Cadet wrestlers competing in tomorrows action to 15. Tomorrow the quarterfinals get underway at 9:30 AM, with Senior freestyle challenge tournament and Junior freestyle going on as well(full schedule here).

While it’s never fun to lose so many (20) wrestlers in a single round, it still was a great showing by the young Iowans. For one it was a great sign to see 37 wrestlers to be at this tournament to begin with. Even though we saw wrestlers who looked like All-American candidate exit early, from what I watched it was a pretty good tournament by Team Iowa, and hopefully the remaining wrestlers can continue the success for our state.
