We have reached the end of the Greco portion in Fargo and the Juniors were able to add three more All-Americans to the list as Brenden Baker (113) 6th, Chase Straw (152) 8th, and Jake Marnin (285) 3rd. Iowa picked up seven All-Americans in the Cadet division yesterday, so the total count currently stands at 10. Hopefully with Cadet freestyle getting started tomorrow, Team Iowa can add to that total. If you missed any of the previous session coverage, see below.

There were a couple soon to be college wrestlers competing as well in the Junior division and the good news was that they all looked pretty good. Spencer (145) fell behind early, and then came out and dominated the rest of the match to win his national title. I don’t know if anyone was more dominant at their weight than Spencer picking up seven TFs in seven matches. Burke Paddock (160) didn’t disappoint either, as he wasted little time winning by a score of 10-0 to win his national title.

And Iowa talent was extremely relevant at heavyweight, as prep Jake Marnin was in the consolation finals, and soon to be wrestlers with Iowa ties Sam Stoll and Adarios Jones squared off in the finals. Marnin fell in his match to the same guy who beat him out in Akron, but his 4th place finish is still very impressive. With Jones (UNI bound) and Stoll (Iowa bound) squaring off, we got a preview of a matchup we may be seeing over the next four or five years, with this time Stoll coming out on top.

Cadet Freestyle gets started at 9:30 AM tomorrow morning (full schedule here).
