Wyatt Wriedt Transferring to Loras

Loras has added another impact transfer to their roster for the 2019-20 season as former North Scott standout Wyatt Wriedt has informed IAwrestle he will be transferring to Dubuque to finish his remaining eligibility as a Duhawk.

“The coaches are amazing.” Wriedt said, “Trevor Kittleson has been my boy since freshman year of high school and has been there for me since. The level of commitment those two have not only for me but for their team is crazy, and that was one of the biggest things I was looking for this go around. They have got good kids coming in and I want to help take a team to the top.”

A former top 100 recruit in the class of 2017, Wriedt was a two-time state champion in Class 3A. His first state title was a surprise upset over the nationally ranked Ethan Andersen and he repeated as champ his senior season against Valley’s Rocky Lombardi. He finished his high school career #85 in the class of 2017.

Wriedt missed all of this past season due to injury, but he did compile a 22-11 record as a redshirt at 285 pounds. He now expects to challenge immediately for the Duhawks starting spot at heavyweight. Wriedt is the second big transfer into the program this month as earlier we learned NJCAA runner-up Travis Willers announced he would be finishing his career with Loras.
