The Iowa Hawkeyes have landed two-time Arizona state champion Jesse Ybarra. The junior from Sunnyside High School is currently ranked No. 12 in The Open Mat’s latest rankings at 120 pounds.

This summer, Ybarra broke through the rankings winning the Cadet freestyle national championship at 120 pounds over Ankeny’s Caleb Rathjen.  Ybarra projects at 141 pounds for the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Joining Patrick Kennedy in the 2020 recruiting class, the Hawkeyes have been hitting home runs this summer. They added commits Abe Assad and Zach Glazier plus impact transfers Austin DeSanto and Jason Renteria.
