Some breaking news coming to Iowa fans this morning as Damion Hahn told Takedown Radio that Cody Caldwell will be remaining on his coaching staff in Brookings. The former Cornell associate head coach was announced as head of the SDSU program on earlier this week.
Our own Tony Hager, who also serves as a co-host on the weekly radio show, tweeted the news:

A native of Waverly, Iowa Caldwell joined the staff in 2017, which also happened to be the team’s most successful season in program history as they sent seven wrestlers to the national championships, placing three on the podium and crowning their first ever national champion.
After bringing the program to new heights SDSU’s former head coach Chris Bono left the team for a new challenge landing in Madison, Wisconsin to take over the Badger program from Barry Davis. Bono’s head assistant, former NCAA champion at Iowa State Jon Reader, considered taking the SDSU job, but opted to follow Bono to Wisconsin.
Caldwell wrestled collegiately for the University of Northern Iowa where he was a NCAA qualifier and four year starter for the Panthers. Prior to joining Bono’s staff in Brookings, Caldwell had previously served as a graduate assistant at Grand View in Des Moines.
