It was announced about a month ago that UNI’s All-American Drew Foster would be competing in the 2017 version of the NWCA All Star Classic at Princeton.
Yesterday the NWCA released who Foster would be wrestling – North Carolina State senior Pete Renda. Renda finished third at 174 pounds as a junior in 2016 and took a redshirt last season. He competed unattached for the Wolfpack last season, going 13-2.At this point, everybody knows Foster’s story. The junior went 15-18 as a freshman, then really turned things around last season, going 26-6 and earning his first All-American honors.
Panthers competing in the All-Star Classic have an overall record of 3-10-1 in the event, according to Jason Bryant and the NWCA.
In addition to Foster competing it appears that UNI might have one more wrestler in Princeton, as head coach Doug Schwab tweeted this out last week
So far nothing has been announced by either UNI or the NWCA, but one name to keep your eye on is Max Thomsen, Foster’s partner on the medal stand last season. Thompson went 31-7 overall and took 5th at the NCAA championships last March.
