This weekend’s high school wrestlers taking part in preseason action will feature two nationally ranked tournaments in two different parts of the country. The Elite Takedown Wrestling Club will be taking four wrestlers to Las Vegas where they will compete in the Freakshow tournament. Participating in the Elite High School division will be New Hampton’s Michael Millage and Noah Fye – both of which recently competed in IA Wrestle’s Night of Conflict event. Juniors Phillip Ihde (Decorah) and Gable Fox (Don Bosco) will compete in the Varsity High School division.
Iowa will also be sending nine wrestlers to InterMat’s JJ Classic in Rochester, Minnesota this weekend. Highlighting the Iowa field is Cadet Greco-Roman national Champion Spencer Trenary of Clarion-Goldfield-Dows at 285 and 2016 state medalist Drew Bennett of Fort Dodge at 113 pounds.
