Trent Johnson

Dike-New Hartford’s Trent Johnson has verbally committed to wrestle for Grand View University in 2017. The Vikings won their fifth-straight NAIA National Title last year with ten All-Americans. Johnson chose Grand View over Upper Iowa and Wartburg.

Johnson is a three-time Iowa state place winner placing third as a freshman, sixth as a sophomore and runner-up last season. He will enter his senior season with a 138-9 career win record. Johnson is projected to wrestle 149/157 pounds in college.

“Grand View is where I felt the most comfortable and that was the most important thing to me. I feel as if thats where I can become the best wrestler I can possibly be.”

Johnson plans to to go into Elementary Education and the schools location was a big factor in his decision. “Grand View gives me more opportunities for my major being based out of Des Moines.”

Johnson was ranked 23rd overall in IArestle’s Fab50 rankings back in May.
