The #15 Iowa State Cyclones look to rebound against Boise State and Midland University. State lost last weeks opener against #6 Virginia Tech 32-3; and will have another test on Thursday. The Cyclones make their 2015-16 home debut at Hilton Coliseum.
We already know the set lineup for the Cyclones after last weeks debut; but some questions may remain into NAIA’s Midland and the Boise State Broncos lineup. With the Harold Nichols Open looming, we may see some faces from the Cyclones that we wont see regularly in duals.
The Boise State Broncos come to Ames after the Cyclones defeated them in the 2014-15 season by a 36-8 margin.The featured matchup of the night will come at 141 pounds where the Boise State Broncos lone ranked wrestler Geo Martinez awaits. Last year Martinez defeated Cyclone junior John Meeks by a score of 9-5. Martinez is currently ranked 9th, and made last years round of 12 at the NCAA tournament.
Midland University features 4 ranked wrestlers in 125 pounder Aspen Kmiec (7th), 141 pounder Abel Avila(14th), 174 pounder Tyler McMichael (1st), and Heavyweight James Jones (6th). The Vikings are coming off a 10th place finish at nationals, and return all-americans in Jones (7th) and McMichael (3rd).
