Fargo Junior Freestyle Final Results

Team Iowa will be leaving with a top ten finish and after the Men had three cracks at winning a national title, Bettendorf’s Fredy Stroker delivered as Iowa’s last finalist by winning the 145 pound national title over Patricio Lugo of Florida. Stroker joined Junior Women Freestyle National Champion, Rachel Watters as Iowa’s only national champions.

The second highest finishing Iowan was another 145 pound wrestler and future UNI Panther, Max Thomsen, who took home third at the national tournament. Last year Thomsen failed to place at the national tournament, but this year his only loss was to his fellow statesman and eventual champion, Stroker. Thomsen won 9-2 over New Jersey’s Kyle Bierdumpfel.

Lisbon’s Carter Happel was able to finish his national tournament with a win as well when he defeated Salvatore Profaci of New Jersey 14-3. It was Happel’s sixth technical fall of the tournament on the way to his fifth place finish at 138 pounds.

Carter Isley capped off his tournament with double All-American honors with a 1:33 fall over South Dakota’s Daniel Stibral in the fifth place match. Isley had a great week where finished runner-up in the Greco-Roman tournament, and  he also got a huge win over Iowan and nationally ranked, Gannon Gremmel in the round of 12.

Another future Panther, Jacob Holschlag fell to Weston Dobler of North Dakota 4-2 to take sixth at 170.

Harvard bound Nolan Hellickson took sixth at 126 pounds after he lost in the semifinals, he injury defaulted his next two matches and will take sixth.
