Now that all of the Iowan native results are posted we can look into the results on how the out of state recruits did for all three major programs.

The Hawkeyes did have one wrestler competing in the Cadets in Jason Renteria, who capped off a double All-American weekend for Team Illinois. After a third place finish in Greco on Monday, Renteria finished this weeked with a sixth place finish at 126 pounds. Coming into this weekend we expected to see Renteria at 120 pounds, but maybe he grew a little which is why he ended up going at 126.

The Hawks other wrestler in the tournament was Wisconsin’s Jeremiah Moody. On Tuesday Moody took fourth at 160 pounds in Greco, but missed out in freestyle up at 170 pounds.

Future Panther, Paden Moore was able to earn All-American honors for the second straight year for Minnesota at 160 pounds, as he took fourth. One of Moore’s two losses on the tournament was to eventual national champion Joe Smith of Oklahoma. From our interviews with Paden he has stated he thinks he will begin his college career at 157 pounds, but may move to 165 in the future.

The Cyclones had only one out of state recruit competing in Missouri’s Colston DiBlasi at 160 pounds. DiBlasi did compete in the Greco portion tournament, but it appears something kept him out of the freestyle event.
