Fargo Cadet Greco-Roman Final Results

Iowa entered the final round of the Cadet Greco-Roman compeition with four wrestlers looking to finish up their All-America status. Two wrestlers made it into the third place match, while Iowa also placed a wrestler in each of the fifth and seventh place matches.

Aden Reeves (106) got things started off right for Iowa when he came out like a buzzsaw to win 11-0 in the fifth place match of his weight.

At 120 pounds the consolation finals were a rematch of the quarterfinals as Alex Thomsen took on Clai Quintanilla of Washington for the second time in two days. Thomsen was up 3-0 when he hit a huge five point throw to go up 8-0 in the first. Quintanilla came back in the second with a takedown and several turns to tie the match eight points a peice. Thomsen would muster only one more point to his opponent’s two to take fourth 10-9.

After trailing in his match 4-0, Anthony Sherry (160) was able to mount a comeback with the match tied at 6-6 to begin the second period. In the final period Sherry gave up a pushout, but did a fantastic job defending a takedown, but on his last chance attempt he gave up a takedown to fall 9-6 in the third place match.

Garrett Kubovec (195) closed things out for Team Iowa in the Cadet Greco-Roman tournament when he won his seventh place match 15-11.
