This weekend (3/27-3/29) Virginia Beach will be the place to be as the NHSCA High School National Championships will be taking place. Last year Iowa picked up champions in Max Thomsen (JR 138) and Marcus Harrington (SR 195) and this year three Iowans will look to try and join them in their quest to a title.

SR 160:
Dayton Racer (Bettendorf) – 2nd 3A

The #6 ranked Bettendorf wrestler will look to get back to business this weekend after suffering a loss to #4 Bryce Steiert in the 3A 160 finals last month. Racer is one of the few remaining top 100 recruits for the 2015 class and he looks to add to resume that includes a 2014 Super 32 runner-up performance.

FR 106
Brody Teske (Fort Dodge) – 1st 3A

The freshman has really burst on the scene capturing the 3A 106 state title over Waukee junior Jakob Allison. Now the freshman has been picked up on the national radar showing up at #20 on this week’s InterMat’s rankings. Teske will look to climb those ranks with a win.

FR 138
Billy Higgins (Omaha Skutt Catholic) – DNP

Fargo All-American will look to get back on the mat after an injury derailed his freshman state championships for Omaha Skutt Catholic. Higgins has dealt with quite few injures, picking up an 8th place All-American nod in Greco-Roman at Fargo last summer when a broken rib caused him to miss the freestyle portion of the event. Higgins then crossed state lines to attend the prestigious Skutt Catholic (which Hawkeye fans may think sounds familiar because that is where Gilman attended). Higgins will now try to get back on track.
