Last week on IA Wrestle we honored our first Wrestler of the Week in Ryan Schmalen. This week is no different as we select a new Iowan (although this one is new to the term “Iowan”) in Dayton Racer. Racer recently finished off a dominating performance in Michigan where he claimed the 2014 Grappler Fall Classic title at 160 pounds. Racer scored bonus points – that’s technical falls and pinfalls – all the way to the finals before winning that match by a 6-0 margin. It is clear to see that he was the most dominant wrestler there, and that’s why he has earned Wrestler of the Week honors.

Honorable Mention

Racer wasn’t the only Iowan to claim a preseason tournament title as Justin Portillo claimed the 106 pound title at the Kansas City Fall Brawl tournament. In his five matches Portillo scored three bonus point victories, including a fall in the finals. This is the second consecutive tournament that Portillo has entered and won this preseason.
