Before and after every single practice over the course of the season, the wrestlers in West Delaware’s program have recited the same eight lines. Those lines, in turn, have shaped both the individual and team mentality for the postseason.

I am thankful for the opportunity to wrestle,
I am a West Delaware wrestler.
I have no fear of losing or making mistakes,
I am a West Delaware wrestler.
I am aggressive and relentless,
I am a West Delaware wrestler.
I will never ever give up,
I am a West Delaware wrestler.

After entering the state wrestling tournament as the runaway favorite in 2A last year, this weekend is one of opportunity and redemption for West Delaware.

At least, that’s what it looks like from the outside looking in. But from inside the program, between the lines of their creed, the mindset is just a little different….
