AMES, Iowa — Redshirt sophomore Ian Parker won a pair of duals over wrestlers ranked in the top-12 nationally this weekend. On Friday night, The 141-pound match featured No. 15 Parker and OU’s No. 10 Dom Demas. Demas led 3-1 in the third period until Parker got a huge takedown with 53 seconds left. Parker then claimed the victory (4-3) when Demas received his second stall warning with seven seconds remaining in the sudden victory period.
The Saint Johns, Mich., native parlayed that big win into Sunday when he took on No. 12 Kaid Brock of Oklahoma State. Brock notched the first takedown of the match, but Parker got to his feet and finished the first period on top, 3-2. At the end of two periods, the match was tied at 3-3. Parker scored an escape in the third and iced away the win with a takedown to take it by 6-3 decision.
On the year now, Parker is 19-2 and a perfect 8-0 in dual action. He has not lost a match since the Lindenwood Open in November.
