PCM-Monroe standout Lucas Roland has reopened his recruiting process. The 2018 state champion had previously given his verbal commitment to Cary Kolat and Campbell University in North Carolina. With National Singing day having come and passed, Roland has confirmed that at this time he is weighing his options.
It was hard not to root for Roland last winter when he not only became the first state champion in school history, but he accomplished his feat while his mother, Jeri was in a battle with breast cancer. After defeating Dubuque Wahlert’s Kolton Bartow 5-1 in the finals, Roland jumped into the crowd and wrapped him mom in a big embrace.
A couple months after winning his state title Roland announced his decision to commit to Campbell telling IAwrestle that he liked the university’s “small town aspect”. He picked the Camels over Iowa State. With Roland telling IAwrestle now that he is considering options closer to home, one might assume the Cyclone’s head coach Kevin Dresser will resume his pursuit of Roland.
ISU is pretty log jammed at those weights, will be interesting for sure. Wish him the best
