New Hampton state medalist Noah Glaser has announced that he will be continuing his wrestling career at the University of Northern Iowa. The sixth place 2A medalist had this to say on his decision:
“I chose UNI because of how much I like the coaches and team.” Glaser told IAwrestle, “They are a great group of guys that are working towards the same goals. It is really similar to New Hampton wrestling in how everyone is family. It also made it a lot easier having some of my hometown boys on the team. I like surrounding myself with hard working people that will challenge me to reach my highest potential and I think UNI will do this for me.”
Glaser is expecting to return to 170 pounds this season for New Hampton where he is expected to be among the top contenders for the state title in February. Glaser told IAwrestle he plans to wrestle 184 pounds in college.
The Panther Train has two other notable members from last year’s New Hampton squad, which brought home the state dual team title and finished second in the traditional tournament. Keaton Geerts was the Panthers top recruit in the class of 2017, and fellow senior Michael (Millage) Blockhus committed to UNI in August.
Glaser will be a key member for New Hampton as they look to defend their state dual title, a feat that Glaser considers to be one of the biggest moments in his career to date.
“I’m most proud of maintaining a high GPA while working hard toward my wrestling goals. Last year, winning the state dual championship was one of the greatest highlights of my career. It was awesome accomplishing a goal that we had worked toward as a team for years.”
