What: The Conflict @ Carver is a premier preseason wrestling tournament for Boys in 3rd-12th grades & Girls K-12. (Note: Conflict will have 10 mats in Carver and 3 mats in Dan Gable Complex)
Event Date & Location: The 5th annual Conflict @ Carver will take place on Saturday, Oct. 14th, 2017 at the legendary Carver Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City. Wrestling will begin at 9:30 a.m. CST.
Who is Eligible: All Wrestlers with current USA Wrestling memberships in grades 3 through 12 are eligible to compete. Girls in grades K-12 are also eligible to compete and may wrestle in boys division. USA Wrestling membership is required for all wrestlers. 8th Graders may wrestle in the High School division, but not both. 5th Graders may wrestle in MS Division with Tournament Director approval.
Style: Folkstyle (scholastic style) rules will be used. High School matches will be 2-2-2 in length, Middle School matches will be 2-1-1 in length while Elementary matches will be 1-1-1 in length. All consolation matches will be 1-1-1 in length. NFHS Rules will govern all matches. Girls matches will feature the Freestyle pushout rule along with neutral restarts.
Entry Fee: The entry fee is $30 if registered by Oct 1st, $40 if registered after Oct. 1st. Deadline is October 12, 2017 at 10:00PM.
Weigh-Ins Date, Time, and Location: Weigh-ins will take place on Friday, Oct. 13th, 2017, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. CST, at Carver Hawkeye Arena. An optional weigh in will be held on Oct. 15th from 6:00-7:00AM at Carver Hawkeye Arena. There is a 2lb. allowance for all wrestlers.
Weight Classes: The HS weight classes are as follows: 100, 106, 113, 120, 126, 132, 138, 145, 152, 160, 170, 182, 195, 220, and 285. The MS weight classes are 70, 77, 84, 91, 98, 106, 113, 120, 126, 132, 145, 160, 190 and 250. Elementary weight classes are 50, 57, 64, 71, 78, 85, 92, 100, 115, 130, 150 and 175. Wrestlers may change weight classes at weigh-ins as long as there are less than 32 wrestlers at the weight you are moving to.
Girls divisions will be grouped by weight using the Madison Block bracketing system.
Admission: Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for students (ages 5-18), and free for children 4 & under. This does not included the coaches pass which must be purchased separately. All current USA Wrestling Certified Coaches will receive a coaches pass for free.
Coaches: Coaches with current USA Coaches Membership will be admitted free and will receive free coaches band. All other coaches wishing to be mat side must purchase coaches band along with admission. Floor access will be restricted to coaches and wrestlers only! 2 coaches per corner.
Awards: Medals will be given to the top-six placewinners in each weight class. In addition, all champions will receive a custom Rudis Snapback Hat. Most Outstanding Wrestlers in each division will receive custom Rudis Backpacks. Coach with most team points will receive custom Rudis Backpack.
Officials: Certified officials will be used. Lenny Mais will serve as the head official for the fifth consecutive year.
Seeding: Wrestlers will be seeded by the Conflict @ Carver seeding committee based on state and national accomplishments.
Brackets/Results: The brackets will be published on TrackWrestling.com.
