With recruiting season now in full swing, we take a look at the top prospects in the class of 2017 and where they are looking. July 1st is the first official day that college coaches can contact high school juniors (or soon-to-be seniors) and discus scholarship offers.
We start our series with Fort Dodge State champion Triston Lara. Lara has been a fixture in the Class of 2017 pound for pound rankings and he was rated the #8 wrestler in the entire state in May’s Fab 50 rankings. Lara won his state title at 126 pounds in February, but has been competing at 132 pounds this summer.
Lara’s current top schools are Iowa State, Northern Iowa, and Oklahoma.
UNI would be a good choice for him, I believe.
