The 2016 Junior National Dual team for Iowa has finally been assembled and looking over the lineup it’s clear to see Iowa/USA Wrestling was able to assemble the best the state has to offer. A year ago the Junior team put in top eight finishes in both Greco-Roman and freestyle with some of those guys returning from last year’s squad.

Of course it goes without saying that there is no bigger wrestler in the lineup name-wise than Carter Happel, who has made his way down to 138 after wrestling 145-pounds his senior season. Happel holds freestyle national titles at both Fargo and UWW/FILA Cadets, and was a Junior Fargo All-American at this weight a year ago.

Fortunately for the state of Iowa, several other freestyle All-Americans are featured in the lineup with Cadet All-Americans Kyle Biscoglia (6th), Marcus Coleman (2nd), and Wyatt Wriedt (4th) all jumping up to the Junior level and ready to make their impact. In addition to Happel, Carter Isley is the other returning Junior All-American on the team in freestyle.

We will also see Brenden Baker (Greco ’13), Jack Wagner (Freestyle ’13), Ryan Leisure (Greco ’14), Colton Clingenpeel (2x), Brandon Haas (Greco ’13) who have also scored some hardware at Fargo earlier in their careers.
