Dubuque Hempstead has been ranked in the top 10 in our dual meet team poll nearly all season, so it shouldn’t be a surprise that they placed a wrestler in each the 220 and 285 pound MVC Championship matches. In the 220 pound match #9 Alex Freiberger took on #10 Dalles Jacobus of Kennedy. Freiberger used a couple of throws to take the Cougar down before earning the pinfall in just 34 seconds.
Not to be outdone, #1 Gannon Gremmel took out #6 Omar Begic from Waterloo East in the heavyweight final in 1:01. Gremmel used an arm drag and then worked an arm over to record the pinfall. The two victories locked up Hempsteads fourth place finish at the tournament.
