Battle of Waterloo History, Info, and Predictions

This will be the 6th Battle of Waterloo Tournament. Lisbon is the first ever 1A school to get a #1 seed. No 1A school has ever been seeded above #3 in their bracket.

Out of the 20 #1 seeds in the past four years, 17 of them have made the Championship Pool on Saturday. The only exceptions were #2 West Delaware in 2011, #4 Charles City in 2013, and #4 Cresco in 2013.

Five different tournaments have been held yielding 4 different champs (IC West in 2010 & 2011, West Delaware in 2012, Waverly in 2013, and Union in 2014). There is a good chance we could see our 5th different champ this year.

Waverly has the most trips to the Championship Pool with 3. West Delaware, CR Prairie, Iowa City West, and Assumption each have done it twice.

52 of the last 120 State Dual Qualifiers wrestled in The Battle of Waterloo the year they qualified. 6 of the last 15 State Dual Champs competing in this tournament the year they won.

Lake Mills will be the 41st different team to have participated in The Battle of Waterloo. They take the spot of Woodbury Central from last year. 24 teams have been in all 6 Battle of Waterloo Tournaments.

Teams in last years BOW field produced 149 state qualifiers. 91 of 224 state placwinners and 15 of the 42 individual state champs also came from teams in the tournament last year.
