For this match we dipped back into the prestigious Young Guns club and pulled out another one of the nation’s top wrestlers to head over to Iowa to face a multiple Fargo All-American. Of course it helps when the Young Guns wrestler, Kaleb Young, is already committed to wrestle for the Hawkeyes, but rest assured he is excited for his match with Colton Clingenpeel.
Colton Clingenpeel (SR)
School: Thomas Jefferson – Council Bluffs
College: Top two schools are Iowa and Nebraska
Credentials: 2015 Fargo All-American, two time state medalist.
Kaleb Young (SR)
School: Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania
College: Iowa Hawkeyes
Credentials: Three-time state medalist, finished top eight at Super 32 and FloNationals.
This should be a great match between two talented wrestlers from two of the best states in high school wrestling in the entire country. We don’t get to see Young competing in the International styles too often, so it will be interesting to see how he handles the pushout. Conversely, Clingenpeel has done quite a bit of Freestyle/Greco wrestling in his career, but he is going up against a top ten opponent in the country. This could turn into a underrated matchup with lots of scoring and above all else, great technique.
Clingenpeel on Young: He is a great wrestler. Excellent on his feet and has a great high crotch single.
Young on Clingenpeel: I don’t know a lot about Clingenpeel, but he is a Fargo All-American so he’s obviously tough.
Clingenpeel on the Night of Conflict: I am super excited to be chose to wrestle in the Night of Conflict and excited for the tough competition during the Conflict at Carver. It’s exciting to have all of this talent at one tournament.
Young on the Night of Conflict: I’m sure it will be an awesome event and I am pumped to wrestle in Carver!
