The Panthers released their schedule, pulling in six home dates in addition to trips to the Las Vegas Invite, The Midlands, and new Big 12 affiliate member North Dakota State. There are five duals and the UNI Open on the home slate.
We already knew some of the hits; the home opening MAC dual with Missouri and non-conference highlights including going to Virginia Tech and hosting Iowa State. Missouri highlights the home dual schedule, as the defending National Dual Champions come to Cedar Falls trying for their first win in the West Gym since joining the MAC. The Tigers won the dual last year in Columbia 33-6.
Iowa isn’t on the schedule again but UNI will see the Hawkeyes, as well as ISU at The Midlands in December. The Panthers will go up to New York for the second straight year, but this time they’re taking part in the Northeast duals against Hofstra, Oregon State, and Rutgers.
The schedule is highlighted with four home dual meets in just eight days, starting off with Central Michigan on January 29th and finishing off with Kent State February 6. The Panthers will also host Ohio on February 1st, and Iowa State February 5th.
As far as the MAC schedule goes the Panthers will travel to Old Dominion, Eastern Michigan, Northern Illinois, and Buffalo. UNI swept those four schools in the West Gym last year, so the MAC foes will be looking for some revenge, especially ODU. The Monarchs lost on the last match of the dual, when Jarrett Jensen won by pinfall over T.C. Warner, 18-16. The conference season stretches the entire year, with UNI’s first single dual competition against Missouri, and their last at Buffalo.
Wrestle-offs will be November 7th, with more details on the event to follow. The Panther football team hosts Indiana State that day at 4 PM in the UNIDome.
