We really waited on this one, but we have finally released a heavyweight matchup, and Gremmel now tops the list of as our biggest competitor from Iowa. His opponent will hail from the land of Lincoln where this past summer he made a name for himself emerging onto the scene at Fargo.

Gannon Gremmel (SR)
School
: Dubuque Hempstead
College: Wisconsin, Nebraska, UNI, Iowa State, Cal Poly, and Bucknell
Credentials: 2015 state runner-up, 2014 Cadet freestyle national champion.

Zach Muller (JR)
School: Downers Grove South
Credentials: 2015 Cadet freestyle runner-up

This is a really good match in the heavyweights and Gremmel is one of the state’s top wrestlers for a reason. He’s been stuck behind Andersen (also in the event), but with his future in college destined for heavyweight, he will look to cap off his year with an elusive state title. Gremmel and Muller have faced each other before, and despite a large gap in the scoring margin, Gremmel has told us a couple times that Muller is harder to score on than that match showed. It will be interesting to see if Muller can jump out and control the pace of the match and try to steal one from one of the nation’s top heavyweights.

Gremmel on Muller: I think he is tough and know he’s got good hips! He’s hard to score on too.

Muller on Gremmel:  He is a great athlete. He’s quick on his feet, got super heavy hands, and super versatile.

Gremmel on the Night of Conflict: I am super excited. It looks like it’s going to be a great atmosphere and I am wrestling alongside all the Iowa studs.

Muller on the Night of Conflict: I think it’s an amazing idea. To get some of the best guys head-to-head should lead to some fireworks. There will be some amazing matches. I think it’s awesome to be able to wrestle in Carver. To have a different type of wrestling environment is really cool.
