InterMat has now released their final updated recruiting class rankings for all classes – if you missed the seniors and juniors post, you can direct your attention here. Making the lists in the younger recruiting classes becomes much more of an accomplishment than one might think. For starters InterMat only lists 25 freshmen, and just 15 junior high wrestlers. The caveat is that these wrestlers have a long time to go in their careers, but to already be considered a top 15/25 recruit in your class is highly impressive.

As for the sophomores, InterMat rankings analyst Josh Lowe goes all the way out to 50, just like he does for the junior class. Making the list were two recent double Fargo All-Americans in Alex Thomsen and Anthony Sherry. Thomsen gets a big boost in these rankings to #27, after making the Cadet finals at 120 pounds where he fell to Nick Ramio (who is #3 in the freshman class). Sherry has reached double Fargo All-American status for his second consecutive year and sits at #47.

Albia freshman Aden Reeves has really burst onto the scene after he too put together a double All-American performance at Fargo. Reeves is now considered a top 15 106 pound wrestler in the entire country. Reeves is joined on the list by Cade DeVos, who was still able to wrestle in the Schoolboy division this past year, where he was the folkstyle and Greco-Roman national champion.

Finally, we can’t do a list taking about young talent without mentioning Cullan Schriever, who in his impressive triple crown performance is not just on InterMat’s top 15, he is right there near the top at #5. Schriever continues to be one of the biggest names to watch in Iowa.

Sophomores:

#27 Alex Thomsen – Underwood

#47 Anthony Sherry – Glenwood

Freshmen:

#13 Aden Reeves – Albia

#17 Cade DeVos

Junior High:

#5 Cullan Schriever

  3. Couple of things, I’m amazed that Teske is not in the top 50…He is a beast!

Also, gotta think that if they went out to 50, there would be at least 1 more Iowa kid in those rankings…Faught showed pretty well at Cadets. I’m thinking he is probably right outside of the top 25.
