Fargo Junior Freestyle Session IV Results

The final session for Juniors takes place tomorrow and of Iowa’s six All-Americans, Team Iowa will have one wrestler competing for a national title.

It was a battle of two familiar foes (or maybe we should call them friends) at 145 pounds when Fredy Stroker took out Max Thomsen in the semifinals in a tight 3-2 victory. This was the second straight year Stroker had made the 145 semifinals, but tomorrow afternoon he wrestles for a national title against Florida’s Patrico Lugo, a tough wrestler who has given Thomsen plenty of battles. Thomsen rebounded with a 12-2 technical fall over California’s Zander Wick and will wrestle for third.

Harvard bound Nolan Hellickson is done at 126 pounds after he lost in the semifinals, he injury defaulted his next two matches and will take sixth.

Three-time Iowa high school state champion Carter Happel will wrestle for fifth at 138 pounds after he was taken out by another Oklahoman, this time it was Tristan Moran who got the better of the Lisbon wrestler. Both of the wrestlers Happel has lost to so far are part of a top five recruiting class for John Smith and Oklahoma State.

Jacob Holschlag fell to Xavier Montalvo of Illinois in the semifinals and then again to Dylan Lydy in the consolation semifinals. He will wrestle for fifth at 170 pounds against the nationally ranked Weston Dobler of North Dakota.

After losing to eventual finalist Osawaru Odighizuwa, Carter Isley was three points away from wrestling for third in the 285 pound bracket. Austin Myers won 7-4 over Isley, so he will wrestle for fifth tomorrow.
