Just like in 2014 Team Iowa will also be sending a Women’s freestyle team to the Fargo National Championships, but unlike last year, Iowa will also feature a Cadet team in addition to their Junior Team. Last year Iowa had five women compete in the Junior Championships, and three of them brought home All-American status on the way to a seventh place team finish.

Among those All-Americans was standout Rachel Watters of Ballard, who has had a great 2015 thus far. In May she took home the top spot at the Women’s Body Bar Nationals in the 72 K, winning the final two matches of a best of three to win. She followed that up with a third place finish at the Women’s Senior World Team Trials at 69 kg, with her only loss to Olympic bronze medalist Randi Miller. Watters was seventh a year ago, so look for to improve upon her 2014 finish.

Joining Watters on the Junior team is Tori Goodale, was a member on the 2014, though she didn’t end up placing. Goodale will be back at 117 pounds for 2015.

A pair of wrestlers will compete in both the Cadet and Junior side of the tournament. Felicity Taylor will wrestle 101 pounds on the Cadet side, then 105 for Juniors later in the week. Nicole Watters will wrestle 132 pounds for Cadets, and then drop to 130 pounds for Juniors. The other Cadet wrestler is McKinna Faulkenberry, who will wrestle 143. Women’s Cadet action kicks off the Fargo tournament tomorrow, with prelims through finals being contested.
