Yesterday, the state of Iowa crowned three All-Americans at the Cadet National championships in Greco-Roman, and after the first day of freestyle competition only three Iowans remain in the hunt to place at the tournament. Last year Iowa crowned both Carter Happel and Jake Marnin among the Freestyle national champions, but this year Iowa will leave without one.
Both Conrad Braswell (42 kg) and Kyle Biscoglia (46 kg) made the semifinals at their weight, but neither were able to pick up wins to advance. Biscoglia was actually selected as the favorite to win his weight by Wille at Flowresting. Braswell and Biscoglia have secured All-American honors at the national tournament as neither can finish lower than sixth.
Fargo double All-American Bryce West is the only other Iowan alive in the bracket at 54 kg. West opened with a strong tourney, picking up a top 20 win in his first official match over Jason Renteria of Illinois. West was then defeated by Ian Parker of Michigan. West responded with a pair of technical falls to remain alive in the bracket, and is still searching for a medal. A year ago the Highland-Riverside wrestler placed fifth at this tournament.
