Iowa continued their dominance this season as for the 9th season in a row they led the nation in attendance according to an attendance report by Roby Publishing. The Hawkeyes led all teams with 8,358 average fans per dual, which was more than 600 fans over second ranked Penn State. The high point for was 11,882 fans that attended the in state rivalry against Iowa State. This was the seventh year in a row that the Hawkeyes have averaged at least 8,000 fans.
Also taking home top ten honors were Iowa State (#7) and Northern Iowa (#8). Iowa State averaged 2,369 fans with their season high coming against UNI which brought in 2,929 fans. Northern Iowa finished just under averaging 2,000 fans with 1,946 and their dual meet high was against Virginia Tech, which brought in 2,100.
The Hawkeyes were also a big draw for top teams this season, as they were apart of the top three attended duals this season being Penn State’s high mark (15,967), Minnesota’s season high (13,620), and they came in third with their dual against Iowa State.
