Former Hawkeye NCAA champions Tony Ramos and Matt McDonough now know who they will be facing tomorrow in the Ivan Yarygin Grand Prix after the draws were announced earlier this morning.
Ramos who was Team USA’s 2014 World Team member will go up against Russia’s Ismail Musukayev, who was 2nd in the 2013 Junior World tournament. 2014 World University bronze medalist Matt McDonough will face off against Russian Nodar Arabidze, who was 5th at last year’s Yarygin tournament.
The 57 KG field features 46 wrestlers, with action getting underway 9:00 PM tonight (Krasnoyarsk is 13 hours ahead of Central time), and the Repechage starting at 4:00 AM. Finals would then start at 6:30 AM tomorrow morning.
There is a live webcast scheduled from a Russian website at: http://krascsp.ru/online-yariguin-2015. My suggestion is that you use Google Chrome and use the auto translate feature, unless you are fluent in Russian then tip of the hat to ya.
Tomorrow former Hawkeye Brent Metcalf will weigh in for 65 KG competition, and will be competing Saturday.
