Having a new lightweight coach is no problem for the Cyclones as they picked up a verbal from a top lightweight recruit, Oklahoma state champion Markus Simmons – Broken Arrow, Oklahoma – announced his commitment to ISU.
Intermat’s Josh Lowe broke the news on Twitter:

Former assistant coach Troy Nickerson (who is now the head coach at Northern Colorado) was renowned for bringing top tier lightweight prospects to Ames, but it appears newly appointed assistant Angel Escobedo hasn’t missed a beat. Simmons projects to wrestle at 125/133, and is currently ranked a top 50 (by our rankings – more on that to come) prospect. Simmons joins Colston DiBlasi, who made his commitment last year to ISU as a junior.
