IAwrestle is proud to announce the return of Night of Conflict on Friday, October 10, 2025, in Iowa City. The preseason showcase will be held at the Courtyard Iowa City University Heights (901 Melrose Ave, Iowa City, IA 52246). Doors will open at 6:30 PM with wrestling set to begin at 7:00 PM.

Fans unable to attend in person can watch the action live on the IAwrestle Rokfin channel. Matside and standing room only tickets are now available online at NightofConflict.com.

This year’s edition marks a heartfelt homecoming, nearly 10 years to the day from the inaugural Night of Conflict on October 16, 2015, held at the iconic Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City. The event immediately made a statement by bringing marquee matchups to one of the sport’s most iconic stages. From there, the event hit the road across the state—stopping in Sioux City, Des Moines, Cedar Falls and Waterloo—each year building on its reputation as the place to see state champions collide, national talent test themselves, and rising stars announce their arrival.

Through the years, Night of Conflict has featured dozens of eventual NCAA standouts and Division I recruits, cementing its status as a proving ground for wrestlers looking to compete on the biggest stages. Whether at Carver or a convention center packed shoulder to shoulder, the event has always been about the same thing: putting elite high school talent under the spotlight and giving fans a preview of the future of wrestling.

“This is more than just a wrestling event—it’s a chance to showcase the sport in Iowa and give these athletes a stage,” said IAwrestle founder Tony Hager. “Bringing Night of Conflict back to Iowa City for the 10-year anniversary makes this one even more special.”

While specific bouts are still being finalized, expect the signature blend of in-state rivalries, out-of-state showdowns, and emerging talents ready to make their mark.

Cody Trevino (Bettendorf) vs Hunter Stevens (Mount Horeb/Barneveld, Wisconsin)

Up next we will see two Division I bound seniors face off as Bettendorf’s Cody Trevino will take on Wisconsin standout Hunter Stevens.

Trevino is a three-time state medalist who was fourth as a freshman and has since taken third at back-to-back state tournaments. Last fall he was second in USA Wrestling’s Preseason Nationals Showcase division and he was fourth the year before. Trevino recently committed to wrestle at Davidson.

Stevens took a more non-traditional route to his junior season, opting to compete in college level tournaments instead of the regular high school season, placing at the Loras Open and Zingo Nationals. He also won 2024 Preseason Nationals, and was a 16U Fargo finalist. Stevens is committed to wrestle at Wisconsin.

Landen Davis (Eddysville-Blakesburg-Freemont) vs Carter Schmauss (Crestwood, Cresco)

This will be a battle between two Iowa natives who will both figure to be title contenders in Class 2A this season. Eddysville-Blakesburg-Freemont’s Landen Davis will face Crestwood, Cresco’s Carter Schmauss.

Davis is a two-time state medalist, having reached the finals this past season. As a freshman he missed out on the podium by one match, and he was third as a sophomore. He debuted at #3 in our ‘Way Too Early” 2A 138-pound rankings.

Schmauss is a three-time state medalist who also finished as state runner-up last season after finishing eighth as a freshman and fifth as a sophomore. He checked in at #1 at 132 pounds in the “Way Too Early” Class 2A rankings.

Knox Ayala (Fort Dodge) vs Ty Martin (Don Bosco)

This next match will feature two highly regarded freshmen who will look to begin their high school careers at two powerhouse programs. From Fort Dodge we will see Knox Ayala take on Don Bosco’s Ty Martin.

Ayala is coming off a third place finish out at Fargo in freestyle this summer, and he was an AAU state champion in the winter. He has also finished runner-up at Kid’s Nationals, Preseason Nationals, and Tulsa Nationals champ.

Martin has had a fantastic spring and summer starting with a third place finish at Folkstyle Nationals. He followed that by earning All-American status in freestyle at U15 Nationals and won the Greco-Roman division. At Fargo he won a Greco-Roman national title and was fifth in freestyle.
