The Veteran Vs the Freshman Phenom – War at West Gym

We have another terrific match we are thrilled to announce for the 2019 War at West Gym dual featuring an established star wrestler in the state of Iowa against a young, up and coming prospect. While this match will be pitting two state champions against one another this will be our first catch weight battle as these wrestlers won titles at different weights last week.

By now you know the name Adam Allard, or at least you should, as the western Iowa wrestler recently became a member of Iowa’s three-time state champion club, and he is one of two wrestlers that will vie for title number four next winter. Some fans may also remember Allard’s performance at this same event a year ago, when he took out Valley-WDM’s Nick Oldham 5-3 in what was a battle between state champions.

Speaking of potential four-timers Hayden Taylor threw his hat in that ring just over a week ago when he earned the top spot on the podium in Class 2A’s 126-pound bracket. The freshman made his presence known when he dethroned 2018 champion Andrew Flora of ADM, who came into the match with a perfect record, in the semifinals by technical fall. It was without a doubt one of the more talked about stories during the tournament and the Solon wrestler will look to continue making a name for himself in this match against the already established Allard.

About the War at West Gym:

IAwrestle is pleased to announce that our “War at West Gym” event will be returning to Cedar Falls on Saturday, March 16th. The event will once again be held in the University of Northern Iowa’s West Gym and will pit some of the state’s top talent against one another, as well as feature talented wrestlers from across the country.

Fans are able to purchase tickets at the door, but are encouraged to buy tickets in advance. Tickets can be purchased for $10 on Eventbrite.

For those unable to attend the dual a live stream will be available through Trackwrestling. For our Season Pass subscribers the “War at West Gym” event is already included in the $65 initial fee, but fans will also have the option to purchase the stream for a one time $10 fee.
