AAU Wrestling Release:

Due to the uncertainty of the winter storm in Iowa, the wrestling committee has decided to delay the start of the State Tournament on Saturday till 10:00 am. The doors at Wells Fargo Arena will open for the public at 8:45.

The weigh ins scheduled for Friday night at South East Polk Middle school will proceed with no changes planned.

Due to adverse travel conditions for those living in parts of Iowa, there will be an additional weigh in time Saturday on the bottom Floor of Hy Vee Hall in room 108. Weigh ins will proceed from 7:30 till 9:30.

ALL WRESTLERS WILL RECEIVE A ONE POUND ALLOWANCE (Friday and Saturday morning weigh ins)

Floor passes, Two day admission passes, and coaching passes will also be available during this time in Hy Vee Hall, as well as, the south end of Wells Fargo Arena across from the ticket booth when the doors open.

Please call Wes Creason at 515-442-6599 if you have any delays in traveling or questions.

  1. Wes. I would like to know how the weather this weekend affects a wrestler’s weight and why the rules for weigh ins have been changed just two days before the state tournament? I believe the committee is sending the wrong message to youth wrestlers. You are now giving even more of an advantage to kids who have been red shirted/held back and are already cutting weight. As a father and a coach who does not believe in holding a child back for an athletic advantage or cutting weight at this level. Who also has two kids wrestling this weekend at their respected age and weights, I strongly disagree with this committees decision. Very disappointing.
