Kyven Gadson has earned the Male athlete of the year honor. Gadson will share the award with 800 meter national champion Edward Kemboi. Gadson becomes the 28th wrestler to win the award for the 7x national champion Cyclones.

The Cyclone 197 pounder wins the award after pinning Ohio States world team member Kyle Snyder. Gadson had an impressive NCAA tournament in which he dominated the field. He led all competitors at the championships with 26 team points. Gadson pinned his 1st round opponent before pinning Northern Iowas Basil Minto. Gadson then majored Iowa All American Nathan Burak before winning by decision over Dukes Connor Hartman. Gadson then hit his patented throw to defeat Snyder in the finals. Gadsons career saw him All American 3 times, placing 6th, 4th and 1st. Gadson never lost a dual in his career except for when he blew out his shoulder in his only match freshman year. His legendary father Willie was also a 2x All American for the Cyclones.
