Earl at D1collegewrestling.net updated his 2015 senior list and 18 wrestlers with Iowa ties were among the 150 names, including 12 native Iowans. Leading the way for the wrestlers was #8 Michael Kemerer, the Pennsylvania native is headed to Iowa City to wrestle for the Hawkeyes. Leading the way for native Iowans is Northern Iowa commit Max Thomsen who moved up to #15.
Northern Iowa, whom InterMat ranked as having the #4 ranked overall recruiting class boasted an impressive seven top 150 seniors. The core of their class is built around four-time state champion Thomsen, two-time state champion Bryce Steiert (27) and Georgia prep Taylor Lujan (29). Paden Moore drops a few spots from Earl’s initial list down to #115, and preseason national champion Jacob Holschlag just misses out on the top 100 at #102. The Hawkeyes, who came in 12th on InterMat’s list, have four top 100 prospects, which was headlined by the aforementioned Kemerer. Making his debut at #67 was Illinois state champion Vince Turk, and Steve Holloway also debuts at #79. Cash Wilcke dropped a few spots, but remains in the top 100 at #86.
The Cyclones also landed a pair of top 100 recruits with Oklahoma State champion Markus Simmons jumping all the way to #31 on Earl’s list. Colston DiBlasi has received mix reviews in his senior go around make the list at #80.
