3A Regional Dual Preview And Predictions

AT: BETTENDORF
Linn-Mar, Marion VS. Pleasant Valley
Bettendorf VS. the semi-final winner

A few of Pleasant Valleys wrestlers have been dinged up for part of the season. Will they rest them tonight with districts just a few days away or will they wrestle them to knock some of the rust off? Look for Pleasant Valley to get by Linn-Mar, and then fall short against the defending 3A dual champs Bettendorf.

FINAL PREDICTION: Bettendorf over Pleasant Valley

AT: CEDAR RAPIDS, JEFFERSON
Epworth, Western Dubuque VS. Ankeny Centennial
Cedar Rapids, Jefferson VS. the semi-final winner

Western Dubuque is a solid team top to bottom. They should get by by Ankeny Centennial, but Jefferson is having one of their best seasons in recent years. Look for Jefferson to handle Western Dubuque and see if they can improve on a 7th place finish from last years state dual tournament.

FINAL PREDICTION: CR Jefferson over Western Dubuque

AT: DOWLING CATHOLIC, WEST DES MOINES
Sioux City, North VS. LeMars
Dowling Catholic, West Des Moines VS. the semi-final winner

The first round meet between Sioux City North and LeMars will be a rematch from last week where Sioux City came out on top 54-21. Look for a similar result setting up a final meet with Dowling. Look for Dowling to come out on top, but North will make it interesting.

FINAL PREDICTION: Dowling over Sioux City North

AT: JOHNSTON
Norwalk VS. Lewis Central
Johnston VS. the semi-final winner

Norwalk should get by Lewis Central first round, and that will set up a rematch in the finals. Johnston and Norwalk met up mid January where Johnston came out on top 43-15. Look for Johnston to punch their ticket to state duals for the first time ever.

FINAL PREDICTION: Johnston over Norwalk

AT: NORTH SCOTT, ELDRIDGE
Iowa City, West VS. Clinton
North Scott, Eldridge VS. the semi-final winner

Iowa City West should take care of business in their first meet over Clinton. This will set up a rematch between North Scott and Iowa City West. North Scott won the first meeting 43-25 at the Battle OF Waterloo. Expect the meet to be a little tighter, if both teams wrestle everyone, but in the end North Scott will get the job done again.

FINAL PREDICTION: North Scott over Iowa City West

AT: PRAIRIE, CEDAR RAPIDS
Dubuque, Hempstead VS. Fort Madison
Prairie, Cedar Rapids VS. the semi-final winner

Hempstead is having a solid season and should be able to handle Fort Madison in the first dual.  Hempstead will have their hands full in the finals though as Prairie defeated them earlier in the season 52-15. Look for Prairie to have a similar result and head by to state duals for the 4th straight year and 15th time overall.

FINAL PREDICTION: CR Prairie over Dubuque Hempstead

AT: SOUTHEAST POLK
Waverly-Shell Rock VS. Council Bluffs, Thomas Jefferson
Southeast Polk VS. the semi-final winner

On paper Southeast Polk is the best team in the state, and they will be looking to make their 10th straight trip to state duals. In their way are two solid teams. Waverly-Shell Rock has traditionally been strong and CB Thomas Jefferson has put together a great season. Look for Waverly to get past CBTJ, but look for Southeast Polk and their 12 ranked wrestlers to control the meet in the finals.

FINAL PREDICTION: Southeast Polk over Waverly-Shell Rock

AT: VALLEY, WEST DES MOINES
Fort Dodge VS. Glenwood
Valley, West Des Moines VS. the semi-final winner

Valley has a very young team and hopes they can string some state dual trophies together after not qualifying for 2 years. Fort Dodge also has some young guns in the lineup and looks to make their first state dual trip since 2009. Look for Fort Dodge to get by Glenwood. The meet in the finals should be the best meet of all the 3A regionals. Look for Fort Dodge to sneak out a victory 35-34.

FINAL PREDICTION: Fort Dodge over Valley, WDM

  1. You have severely underestimated LC wrestling schedule this year. I think your totally wrong on that prediction. Wouldn’t be shocked to see LC beat Norwalk and Johnston.
