The 2015 Tulsa National Wrestling Tournament is in the books and the Iowa boys came home with plenty of hardware. 32 Iowa wrestlers gathered All American honors with 6 of them claiming National Titles. The Sebolt Wrestling Academy (Mason City, IA) claimed the overall team championship. Team points are based on order of finish by All Americans, 14 points for 1st, 10 for 2nd , 7 for 3rd, 4 for 4th, 2 for 5th, and 1 for 6th. Team Sebolt out distanced the 2nd place team, Team Donahoe, by 27 points to claim the top spot. Leading the way for the Sebolt Academy were their 4 National Champs Tucker Stangel, Carter Fousek, Cullan Schriever, and Eric Faught. Schriever and Faught are no strangers to the Tulsa awards stand as this is Cullan’s 3rd straight title also having a 6th place finish in his collection. Faught has won the last 2 tournaments along with a 2nd place finish. There were many future Division 1 wrestlers on display this weekend. Only time will tell how many D1 wrestlers the state of Iowa will produce from this batch of placewinners. One thing we can all agree on is the hope that Iowa colleges can keep them in state.
