The #24 ranked UNI Panthers first home dual of the year will be this Saturday against Iowa Central Community College. ICCC is 2-1 on the year coming off the Iowa City Duals last Friday. The Tritons beat Cornell and Baker College while losing to the University of Iowa.

UNI comes off a 1-1 trip from West Lafayette, where they dropped their second dual of the year to Purdue 21-15, but beat Indiana Tech 44-0. The Panthers went 5-5 in matches against Purdue, but the Boilermakers had an upset at 133 and the deciding fall at 184. Cody Caldwell, the usual starter at 184, was out with an injury so Kyle Lux filled in for him in both duals and went 1-1 on the day. Caldwell is expected to miss at least three weeks.

The good news for the Panthers is they essentially know what they are getting into with Iowa Central. The Tritons lineup shouldn’t be much different than what it was at Iowa, except at 184 where Armani Robinson doesn’t look to be in the dual this week. At every weight other than 157 and 194 (and maybe 184) the Panthers should be heavy favorites, assuming that the starters from last week are all going to wrestle this week. The projected lineups are below.

The challenge for the Panthers will be at 157 and 194. While UNI’s Jarrett Jensen and Jared Bartel have been improving, ICCC brings in  solid wrestlers at 157 in Richie Lewis and Teddie Harvey. While at 197 they bring Patrick Downey, who was the lone win for the Tritions over Iowa last week. The Panthers can boost their own confidence with wins over both those guys, especially if Bartel can take down Downey.

The dual starts at 1PM in the West Gym on UNI’s Campus. It was originally scheduled for 7PM, but because of the football playoff game they bumped it up.

Projected Lineups, the Panther is listed first, all rankings are from Intermat:

125 – #6 Dylan Peters vs. Alex Delacruz
133 – Levi Wolfensperger vs. Tyler Miler/Caleb Studebaker
141 – Jake Hodges/Trevor Jauch vs. Cory Collins/Clay Walker
149 – Zach Witte/Gunnar Wolfensperger vs. Jason Alfau/Teddie Harvey
157 – Jarrett Jensen vs. Richie Lewis/Teddie Harvey
165 – #12 Cooper Moore vs. Richie Lewis/Stephon Gray
174 – Curt Maas vs. Jake Meehan
184 – Kyle Lux vs. Armani Robinson
197 – Jared Bartel vs. Patrick Downey
HWT – #15 Blaize Cabell vs. Richard Gonzalez
