This tournament features some of the top ranked teams from the Division II, Division III and NJCAA colleges in the state of Iowa.
The University of Iowa wrestling team gets the 2014-15 season underway tomorrow at the Luther Open in Decorah, IA. Nearly the entire Hawkeye roster will compete in the “Elite” and “Freshman-Only” divisions but we expect there to be a quite few freshman from Iowa in the “Elite” division. Below is who I believe will be wrestling at their respected weight classes. The questions is who will be in the “Elite” and who will be in the “Freshman-Only”. With the addition of Minnesota as the only other Division I team in the tournament’s field, each weight will be most likely favored by a Hawkeye, or since Minnesota is sending their non-starters/redshirt, a Gopher will have a chance to try and steal a weight. Since the particpants haven’t been announced, below are the Hawkeyes in bold, and Minnesota backups/redshirts who recently placed at the Bison Open last weekend.
