It was a victory that most Cyclone fans were looking for, absolute dominance by the Cyclones to open the season of the Utah Valley Wolverines. Starting the dual off was All-American Earl Hall who was up against a tough Jade Rauser, who also is bumping up from 125. Hall had little issue in scoring a couple takedowns before pinning Rauser just over half way through the first.

Cyclones also got to see the return of John Meeks (141) in dual action as he went up against Ontiveros. Meeks started strong notching back-to-back takedowns, and with Coach Jackson yelling, “You gotta get one more!” Meeks cut his opponent looking for another. Ontiveros would capitalize on this scoring a takedown near the end of the first to tie the match 4-4. The match went back and forth, but in the end, Meeks came out on top 11-9.

The Cyclones continued their rampage as Gabe Moreno (149) and Luke Gottel (157) scored a couple of decisions, and then the Cyclones really picked up as they got bonus from Mike Moreno (165 – tech fall), Tanner Weatherman (174 – major), Lelund Weatherspoon (184 – fall), and Kyven Gadson (197 – fall). Quean Smith (285) would pick up the Cyclone’s ninth victory with a 5-4 decision to put ISU on top 39-0.

The lone blemish in on the night was Kyle Larson (125) who suffered a major decision defeat by Tolbert. The dual ended with the Cyclones victorious 39-4 and a great start to their season.

ISU will dual Boise later tonight (7:00) and you can catch the free live stream here.
